Why trust us with your bathroom remodel

Choosing a contractor to work inside your home is personal. You’re letting people into your space, around your family, and into your budget.

Capital City Construction has been renovating homes in Victoria, Oak Bay, and Saanich since 2002, with 200+ projects completed. Many of our bathroom remodels come from repeat clients who’ve already trusted us with their kitchen, basement suite, or exterior. Homeowners choose us because we offer:

1

Deep local expertise
Decades working in Oak Bay and Saanich homes means we know local bylaws, older structures, and how to blend new bathrooms into heritage and midcentury houses.

2

Award-winning craftsmanship
Our work has been recognized with a VRBA CARE Gold Award for renovation quality. We bring that same attention to detail into every bathroom.

3

Clean, respectful worksites
Daily cleanup, floor protection, and a small, courteous crew. We work as if your home were our own and keep disruption as low as possible.

4

Straight talk and no surprises
We’re upfront about what’s realistic for your wish list and budget. If something will push costs or timelines, you hear about it early — not on the final invoice.

5

Long-term relationships
Many of our bathroom remodels are for repeat clients — a kitchen first, then a basement suite, then the bathroom. Trust is everything to us.

If you value reliability and long-term quality over the lowest quote, we’re likely a good fit.

James is professional and reliable. He turned our ghetto bathroom into a spa-like atmosphere. He was tidy and very respectful of our place laying tarps down to keep the reno mess to a minimum . He was on budget and there were no costly surprises. I would recommend CCC to anyone wanting quality work by a local professional.

Our signature bathroom renovation process

Our process for bathroom renovations in Victoria is built to keep things clear and predictable — from the first conversation through to the final clean.

  • Talk through your goals, wish list, and rough budget
  • Visit your home, assess the existing bathroom, and flag any visible issues
  • Discuss options for layout and structural changes

  • Outline what’s realistic in your space and price range
  • Provide a clear, simple estimate with time-and-materials where appropriate

  • Fine-tune the layout and any structural changes
  • Help you choose fixtures, tile, flooring, and finishes that will hold up over time

  • Set a practical start date and realistic timeline
  • Protect floors and nearby areas before work begins

  • Demolition, framing or adjustments as needed
  • Plumbing, electrical, and ventilation by vetted trades
  • Waterproofing, tiling, and installation of cabinetry and heated bathroom floors

  • Paint, caulking, fixtures, mirrors, and accessories
  • Final cleanup so the bathroom is ready to use
  • Walkthrough to review the work, answer questions, and note any small touch-ups

Throughout the project you deal directly with James (owner-operator) — not a revolving door of site supervisors. If something unexpected comes up, you hear about it right away along with sensible options to address it.

James and crew did a wonderful job renovating 2 bathrooms for me. They completed both jobs under budget and well within the time frame I was quoted initially. I will definitely come back to Capital City Construction for any future renovation needs!

James and his crew have done work for me for the last 10 years. From redoing my kitchen 10 years ago, to redoing bathrooms, bedrooms, living room, porch etc. etc. over the years. I have now moved and they have redone a suite for me and soon will be doing my kitchen. I have recommended James and crew to many friends and family. All are very pleased with the work and glad they have someone they can trust. I would not hesitate to recommend Capital City Construction.

Anne Juteau

I am happy to write this recommendation for James and his crew at Capital City Construction. James completely re-modelled our 1938 vintage (and very ugly) laundry room turning it into a beautiful space, complete with pull out drawers, counter and cupboards for storage. He also suggested turning the additional space into a mudroom, with a bench for additional storage (sports equipment) and various hooks for coats. It was beautiful! We have since moved into a brand new home, but I still miss that laundry room. He then moved into our vintage bathroom and tore out the ugly small tiled shower stall and prepped/installed a beautiful marble shower, and painted the bathroom. When we had a new kitchen designed and installed, we hired them to do the painting. His painters are excellent and his cabinet maker is amazing - very creative and makes good use of space. He and his crew have done various jobs for us over the years and we are set to have our new home repainted along with some drywall fixes. James has a great sense of colour, design and style and will offer ideas that you haven't even dreamed of. I have recommended him several times over the years and will continue to do so. He is meticulous in his work and leaves the work site clean and tidy at the end of his work day. He also sticks to your budget! Highly recommend!

We first met James through the project manager of our major kitchen renovation. James is a genuine, nice person who is a pleasure to work with. James offered us solutions and listened to our preferences. He considered budgetary options. He responded quickly to all of our phone calls or emails. His crew arrived when expected, worked efficiently and professionally, and did a great job of cleaning up at the end of each day. He and his crew did a fabulous job. We have subsequently hired James to remodel a basement bathroom, check out a mould problem, and renovate two downstairs bedrooms. We have been pleased with every job. Capital City Construction is our "go to" solution for any home repairs or construction. We have been pleased with all of the work they have done for us. We highly recommend Capital City Construction for any home repair or renovation.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. As a bathroom renovation contractor in Victoria BC, we manage the full scope, including plumbers, electricians, and tile setters from our trusted network. You deal with one point of contact, and we coordinate the rest.

In our coastal climate, proper bathroom waterproofing and tiling plus good ventilation are critical. We focus on the parts you don’t see — waterproofing membranes, fan sizing, and ducting — so you don’t end up dealing with peeling paint, mold, or leaks a few years down the road.

Yes. Many of our projects are in older Victoria, Oak Bay, and Saanich homes with tight spaces and dated plumbing. We’re used to working around these constraints and can often improve the layout and storage without major structural changes — and when bigger changes are needed, we’ll tell you clearly.

Yes. We regularly work with homeowners planning to age in place in Oak Bay and Saanich. Accessible bathroom renovations can include low- or no-threshold showers, reinforcement for future grab bars, non-slip flooring, wider doorways, and thoughtful fixture placement. We’ll help you balance today’s needs with future comfort.

Most bathroom remodels in Victoria BC take several weeks from demolition to completion, depending on complexity and material availability. We’ll give you a realistic schedule up front and keep you updated if anything affects the timeline.

It depends on the size of the room, the condition of existing plumbing and electrical, and how extensive the changes are. Full gut renovations with custom bathroom design, new tile, and heated floors cost more than simple cosmetic updates. We provide clear estimates so you know where your money is going and can adjust the scope to suit your budget.

If you have other questions about bathroom contractors in Victoria BC or how we work, we’re happy to cover them during a consultation.
